New Study: Plastic Surgery Takes off Almost 10 Years

New research suggests that plastic surgery can make you look almost 10 years younger than you really are. The study by researchers at the University of Toronto used 60 different plastic-surgery patients who were judged before and after by a group of medical students. On average, the patients were estimated to be around 9 years younger than their actual age after surgical procedures.

According to the study, the most effective plastic surgery for looking younger is a combination of facelift, neck lift, eyelid lift, and forehead lift. Doing all four procedures gave the patients an average of over 8 years difference in age perception.

While more research needs to be done, the new study indicates that many patients can have realistic expectations of a more youthful appearance after plastic surgery. Of course, each case is different, and that is why it is important for you to talk to your plastic surgeon to determine what is right for you. Mini Face Lift

Not a day goes by that a patient doesn’t inquire about a mini face lift. Unfortunately, a “mini” lift usually obtains a “mini” result. Many cosmetic surgeons have yielded to the public’s insatiable search for results without down time, but that is largely unobtainable. There are many surgeons out there who will do any number of minor lifts, lasersmicrodermabrasions, IPL treatments, and radiotherapy as a means of augmenting their income knowing all the while that even the patient’s initial minimal result will usually fade in a brief time. The modern face lift involves deep plane modification and then excision of loose skin which is the only way to achieve a lasting result. I say lasting; we all know that the aging process is inexorable, but isn’t a result that lasts 10 to 15 years better than one that lasts a few months?
